Every brick has a story...
Become a part of Katy Elementary history with an engraved brick to acknowledge your child/family, honor a beloved teacher, or a special dedication! Your brick will be added to a beautiful courtyard surrounding Katy Elementary's historical marker! The bricks will become part of the school and will be seen by everyone who enters the school. The historical marker courtyard is located at the front of the school.
Katy Elementary, along with its community and students, is honored to be recognized with an historical marker as the first schoolhouse site in Katy. The original property, a small one-room house, was established in 1898 and slated by the founders of the town to be used for public education.
The current Katy Elementary campus was built in 1965, renovated in 1989 and again in 1995. Today, students play in the same location as the original playground. The first school bell from 1909 still hangs in the main entrance of the campus.
